Data-driven decisions:

using design in government

@Digital Forum

Join us on 24 October to explore how user-centred design can improve data accessibility to empower designers and help government departments drive better policy making.

start with why people

The session at a glance

The new Government wants to use the wealth of data accessible to the public sector to help drive better policy making. However, they will find Government departments at different levels of capability in the use of data, particularly once data gets in the hands of people taking decisions. We'll use this session to share ideas and examples about how user-centred designers and the skills they bring can help people inside Government take decisions or explore ideas with data.

  • Why is data still not fully embedded in decision-making in Government, and could UCD be part of the solution?

  • Where in Government are civil servants at different levels (and Ministers) empowered to use all kinds of administrative and service/outcome data, and what are the conditions that enable that?

  • What is the best way of bringing user centred design into a data service in Government? Where is design less useful?
What is the digital forum?

The Digital Forum is a networking event series for innovative leaders to discuss ways to improve public services. We focus on sharing insights and lessons from successful projects that are changing how we deliver services, making them more user-friendly, adaptable, and effective. Our goal is to foster collaboration among those leading projects that prioritise standards and user needs.

If you’re committed to transforming public service delivery and work in central government, local authorities, or the private and non-profit sectors, we invite you to join us!
